Neck pain, more formally known as cervical spine pain, be it severe or more moderate, is one of the most miserable and debilitating types of pain. It is extremely common today. The Mayo Clinic estimates that at any given time about 10% of the adult population is suffering from neck pain.
Cervical spine pain can have a serious negative impact on your quality of life. I know because I’ve suffered from neck pain, at varying levels of severity, on and off for over ten years. When your neck hurts, it affects everything. It’s almost impossible to forget about it. It causes increased stress and anxiety. There have been times when I would have done almost anything to relieve the pain in my neck. I have spent literally tens of thousands of dollars to try to diagnose and manage this pain.
This website is designed to provide resources and information about all types of neck pain, also known as cervical spine pain. It discusses treatment and management options, and strategies to cope with the condition. It is my sincere hope that this site will help others who are experiencing pain. I have been able to manage the pain levels in my neck quite successfully using a combination of a variety of treatments and modalities. At various times, I will use different techniques. So far I have not had surgery. I feel the quality of my life has increased dramatically as a result of the management strategies I use. Because I have arthritis in my neck, it is unlikely to ever go away completely, but I have many pain-free days and sometimes extended periods (weeks and even months) with very limited or no pain.
Neck pain, shoulder pain, and back pain seem to be almost endemic in modern societies. There are a lot of theories as to why that is, but no perfect answers. The results of diagnostic tests such as x-rays and MRIs frequently do not match up with the level of pain that a patient is experiencing. Much is yet to be learned about cervical spine pain and how to treat it successfully.
